Climbing is a growing sport and past years we have seen more and more new climbers in all age groups joining the gyms and local competitions.
With the growing number of climbers we can also see a growing need for expertise in climbing medicine. Climbing exposes our bodies to a unique stress and requires a specialized medical knowledge to prevent and rehabilitate climbing related injuries.
Boulderkeskus will be hosting two separate seminars on the 7th and 8th of December.
On the 7th of December we will have a seminar aimed for medical professionals at Huone in Jätkäsaari
and on the 8th we will have a seminar for a more broader audience who are interested in climbing medicine and climbing specific injury preventation and rehabilitation in Boulderkeskus Pasila
We have the honor of having some of the world's leading experts of climbing medicine to share their knowledge on the important issue. Dr. Volker Schoeffls'
academic focus is on extreme sports medicine, climbing injuries, biomechanics of the hand, alpine and wilderness medicine and surgery in developing countries. He is the team physician to the German Climbing Team and to the German Skimountaineering Team.
Dr. Isabelle Schoeffl
has a masters degree in Biology and Sports Science and a master's degree in medicine. Her research focus is on biomechanics of the pulley system of the hand, and prevention and treatment of injuries in pediatric and adolescent climbers.
