Boulderkeskus Konala is expanding in the summer 2024
We have some great news for you friends, because this summer we get to say hi to... *drum roll*... BK KONALA 2.0!
This classic of Ruosilantie, Boulderkeskus Konala was founded more than a decade ago, and it has a special place in the hearts of many climbers. An opportunity opened recently that we couldn't pass: we acquired new spaces at the same property and we will be able to carry out a renovation and expansion worthy of BK Konala!
There will be significant improvements:
- Mattresses and gym lighting will be completely renewed
- We are building bigger and better gym facilities for warming up and for additional training
- Children and beginners get their own space where they can climb safely and on problems that suit them specifically. In this way, the junior groups also get to climb in peace
- In addition, we will get completely new dressing room facilities and a store
- There are also plans to add a training wall to the selection! Moonboard, Kilter, Tension board...which board would you prefer? Write us a message to inbox or messenger or via email to info(a)boulderkeskus.com !
- And which training equipment would you like to see at the gym? Now you can influence that too!
Something old, something new
Don't be afraid, we will treat all of our beloved Konala with respect and preserve the wall shapes that are important to you and, of course, Konala's unwaveringly warm atmosphere. And like always, also in the future, all training facilities will be available to all customers.
CEO Mikko Nurminen commented on the expansion as follows:
"For those who love Konala, the news is only good! The gym remains in the same familiar location and holds on tight to its iconic shapes, such as the middle shape with the top out possibility, “bow tie” shape, the tube and the globe. The walls also get to keep their familiar slippery surface. At the same time, we will build significantly better spaces and walls to the gym for children and families, as well as for first-timers.
The new gym, a training board and new profiles will offer better training possibilities for the goal-oriented climbers. We believe that the reforms will bring more climbing for everyone, and they will ease training and groups during rush hour."
What does the reform mean in practice?
Konala's renovation will begin in the summer of 2024. The exact schedule is still in the making, but we will inform you about it and how the renovation will affect Konala's climbability as soon as possible.
We want to support the climbing community by expanding and improving our services and of course listening to your wishes and feedback! At the same time, we would like to thank our loyal and active customers for your support and for sharing the joy of climbing with us through the pandemic, summer heat and rough weather outside. Growth and the developing Finnish climbing are at the core of Boulderkeskus' objectives.
